External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems (ETICS), also known as Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS), are non-load-bearing exterior wall cladding systems designed to improve a building’s thermal performance and energy efficiency. It consists of an insulation board, either Mineral Wool or Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), attached to the substrate adhesively or mechanically, or through a combination of both methods, followed by a reinforced base coat and a textured protective finish coat.
ETICS creates an insulated envelope around the building façade, helping reduce heat transfer, improve indoor comfort, and lower energy consumption. First introduced to the European market by Caparol in the late 1950s, the system has become a proven solution for enhancing building performance and durability.
While commonly used on exterior facades, ETICS can also be applied to internal car park soffits to minimise energy loss through floors and improve overall thermal efficiency. CapaTect ETICS system A – MW uses mineral wool as the insulation core which provides Class A fire protection. It provides highest mechanical stability under extreme temperatures.
CapaTect ETICS System B uses EPS (Extended Polystyrene) as the insulation core. It is extremely light weight and offers great deal of architectural freedom.
